Vickers Target Pro

Keeping System Cleanliness On Target

In today's hydraulic and lubrication systems, an important part of preventive maintenance is knowing how clean or dirty your fluid is. Fluid cleanliness has a major impact on the life and performance of hydraulic components and systems

Easy to Use

The Vickers Target-Pro Portable Particle Counter offers a convenient way to obtain laboratory quality results in the field. It combines state-of-the-art laser particle counting technology with a user-friendly interface and compact size to offer a useful tool that anyone can operate.
This easy-to-use analyzer allows maintenance and service departments to monitor the fluid cleanliness of hydraulic and lubrication systems and take action to ensure the reliability of their equipment.

The Target-Pro offers unmatched flexibility. The operator has the option of three different sampling methods depending on the local situation or need:

  • Online
  • Bottle
  • Bailing Probe

The Target-Pro can switch from one method to another using simple quick disconnect fittings. No special tools or equipment are required.

Multiple Sampling Methods

Bottle Sample

Bottle Sample:
This traditional laboratory method can now be taken to the field and run virtually anywhere. The fluid is sampled into an ultra-clean sample bottle. The bottle is placed into a small pressure chamber on the Target-Pro bottle sampler.

Online Sample

Online Sample:
This real-time method allows sampling from the pressure or return line for pressures of 30-3000 psi. The sample is sent to the sensor and returned through the drain connection.

Bailing Probe Sample

Bailing Probe Sample:
This waste-free method drops a bailing probe into the reservoir. The probe sends the bailed sample through the sensor and then returns it back to the reservoir. There is no manual sampling, little chance for error, and no waste fluid to dispose.

how the target pro works

How The Target-Pro Works

In every sampling method, the fluid enters through the sample connection. In order to eliminate any cross contamination, the sample passes through the sensor first with a 12 ml flush and three subsequent 10 ml counts.

Pressure Creates Sample Flow

For the Online sampling, a minimum hydraulic line pressure of 30 psi (2.0 bar) is needed. A pressure reducer between the sensor and the metering syringe reduces the pressure to 15 psi (1.0 bar). For Bottle and Bailing Probe sampling, the pressure needed to move the fluid past the sensor to the metering syringe is provided by an internally regulated CO2 cartridge or an externally regulated source of filtered, unlubricated "shop air."

Controlled Flow

The flow rate past the laser light sensor is set using a stepper-controlled metering syringe cylinder. This metering piston is an important feature because accurate, reproducible particle counting and sizing rely upon a controlled flow rate and an accurately measured sample volume.

Target-Pro™ Database System Software

The Target-Pro Database System Software is a very userfriendly tool for anyone using a Target Pro. It will collect, store and trend particle count data, while also generating pass/fail type analysis. All of the reports can be printed from your computer for a hard copy of the results.

Types of Reports Generated

  1. Fluid Analysis Report showing target and actual contamination level, along with an ISO graph plotting of the sample results. Trending of the last 6 samples from a given machine along with the actual particle counts in the 2, 5, 15, 25, 50 and 100 micron and larger ranges. This trending analysis compares the actual results to the target that was established for the machine.

  2. History Report that provides Pass/Fail analysis. A useful tool for quality assurance and maintenance departments. Useful for in-plant machinery periodic maintenance checks as well as "roll off cleanliness" checks of production vehicles.

  3. Published sample and source data report that includes all sample information including the Pass/Fail results.

Export Sample Data to Spreadsheets

The Target-Pro Database System Software will also convert the Target-Pro sample data into a useable spreadsheet configuration. The file can then be imported into either Lotus or Excel.
